Submit a track for the 2012 Compilation

Deadline! All songs must be uploaded by February 26, 2012. Signed release forms must be received by March 12, 2012.

Thank you for your interest in the 2012 PDX Pop Now! Compilation. For the uninitiated, the tracks for our annual 2-Disc Comp are selected through an anonymous, volunteer driven listening and voting process which takes place in March. The CD will be available in early June. You will be notified by April regarding your track's standing.

If you’ve been here before, you may notice a few changes. This year we’ve created an online version of our standard rights agreement. You will be provided a link to fill out the agreement online after you’ve uploaded your track. If you’d prefer to print a physical copy, you can find it here.

Your .mp3 will be given a random code and entered in to a pool to be assigned to a team of volunteer listeners. The statistics we receive at this stage inform the creation of a smaller pool of tracks, which goes through another round of voting by our board of directors. At the end of March, we will decide the final track list.

This year we are going to randomly and anonymously stream a playlist of submissions on our website. This will begin a couple weeks in and give curious browsers a look into the depths of the musical heart of Portland. There will be no voting attached. You will have the option to withhold your submission from this stream.

Instructions

Submitting your music is easy, just follow these three simple steps:

  1. Fill out the form below with the details about your track and your artist.
  2. Upload an mp3 of your track. Please limit file size to 15 megabytes.
  3. Print, sign, and mail in the release form or fill it out online to complete your submission.

Please note that for legal reasons, your submission is not complete until we have received your signed release giving us permission to use your music. When your submission finishes uploading you will be able to sign your release online or print and mail it. You will receive an email finalizing your submission as soon as we receive your release.

Caveats and reminders: Only artists currently located in the Portland area will be considered. You must be the sole rights holder to your submission, including any included samples. We cannot accept cover versions of songs. If your music has previously been included on a PDX Pop Now! compilation, your submission must be more recent than your last included track. While we greatly appreciate your generosity in volunteering your music, we offer no payment for compilation inclusion financial or otherwise beyond our never-dying love and appreciation. Only one submission per artist per year, please.
